Reverend Esta Jarrett, Pastor
Rev. Esta Jarrett is a graduate of the University of Virginia and Union Theological Seminary and Presbyterian School of Christian Education. Her special areas of interest are preaching, church music, pastoral care, and helping churches serve people who suffer from depression.
Ordained in 2011, Esta came to Canton after assisting in churches in Richmond VA, Granville OH, Burnsville NC and Asheville NC.
Esta is originally from Newport News, VA, but has deep family roots in western NC, and is proud to call Canton home.
Jeff Gonce, Organist/Director of Music
Jeff has been very active in church music since a young age. He has studied both organ and piano since elementary school, and formally studied organ performance at Montreat.
He is currently following his passion for music, as well as his love of travel. After eight years of working in the banking industry, he joined the travel team at AAA in the summer of 2013.
Betty Driver, Office Administrator
Betty Driver lives in the Beaverdam Community with her husband, Dave. She is originally from Asheville. She attended Appalachian State and graduated with a BS degree in English from Western Carolina University. She retired from Haywood county schools with 38 years of service. Her schools included Canton Junior High, Pisgah High School, North Canton Elementary and Haywood Early College. She has one son, Bill, and two grandchildren, Emery and Josh. She attends Beaverdam United Methodist Church where she is the choir director and teaches one of the adult Sunday school classes.
Jennifer Johnson, Nursery Attendant
Jennifer Johnson is from Canton and graduated from Western Carolina University with a degree in Birth-Kindergarten Education. She is also certified in Special Education and maintains current CPR/First Aid certification.
During the week, Jennifer works at the Child Care Center of First Presbyterian Church in Asheville, NC. She has also worked in other local programs including Hazelwood Early Education and Preschool, the Irene Wortham Center, and Jonathan Valley Elementary. She has experience working with children from infants to elementary-school-aged, but mostly with preschool-aged children, both typically developing and with various special needs.
